Logan's Report

The kids did well this time. Lexie improved...no bad marks at all. Logan on the other hand did outstanding...
But the funny part is his teacher's comments...

"1/21/09 Excellent in all areas - very capable & mature - I'm looking for a small country for him to run."

Obama Blend - Grounds for Change

I had Obama coffee last night at Highland Coffee. I thought it was
pretty damn funny. Actually I mixed it half with decaf because I
think I might be getting WAY too much caffiene in my system. Now
maybe lack of caffiene is going to kill me...

Logan's Snow Angel-after

This is the picture of Logan's completed snow angel. I had to draw a
line around it because it just didn't stand out that much.

Logan's Snow Angel-Before

Here's Logan making a snow angel. He bugged and bugged me to let him
do it, so I made him put on old clothes because I knew he would get
soaking wet. The snow was not that deep, and it was already starting
to thaw.

Taco Bell

It was scouts night and I didn't have time to make supper, so we had
Taco Bell. It has been forever since we went there.

Beer Chips...chips made with beer!

I've been trying hard to watch my carb intake. Not so much tracking
weight loss, but just for a good energy boost. When I saw these at
the grocer's (Aldi's) I just had to try them. They are very flavorful
and crunchy! They are both sweet and salty. They have ingredients:
potatoes (duh) sunflower oil and/or peanut oil, sugar, maltodextrin,
BEER (malted barley, corn syrup, hops, yeast) salt, honey, yeast
extract. They are made by Beer Chips, LLC in Portland.

What are Beer chips? "Potato chips made with beer. (not to be
confused with beer made with potatoes) Beer chips won't make you
drunk but the might make you more interesting."

These might actually be the best chips I've ever eaten...and I'm not
just saying that because they're made with beer.

YouTube - Choirboys - Run to Paradise (acoustic)

YouTube - Choirboys - Run to Paradise (acoustic)

Oh man...I don't feel so bad now. These guys are struggling to perform anywhere like they did 20 years ago.

YouTube - Choirboys - Run To Paradise

YouTube - Choirboys - Run To Paradise

I hadn't thought of these guys for like over twenty years. Don't know why I thought of them tonight but decided to look on YouTube and see if the vid was there. Like always--it was. Enjoy, and see if...like me--you almost have a stroke when the dormant brain memory cells fire off.

Yahoo "Chat right from your inbox!"

Google Chat and Gmail have been interfaced together since the beginning. Yahoo mail and instant message is just now doing it. Yahoo mail sucks. I used it for a LONG time (like 3 years) and I can tell you from experience that Gmail is a far superior service. Yahoo web hosting and domain registration also leaves a lot to be desired. It is difficult to manage and navigate. I switched all my domains to GoDaddy this past year because of Yahoo's problems.

New Futon Bed

Lexie got a Futon for Christmas. I got her the futon used from craigslist. She was really sweet about not caring that it was used. The mattress, though it was from Santa (because I really couldn't afford a decent one) was from Riney's on Hurstbourne. It's a 6" thick mattress and it has a 3 year warranty. My girlfriend went to Riney's with Santa (!) and talked them down from like $139 to $109. She's awesome like that. Here's Lex laying on the futon. Here's Lexie and Logan after they learned how to put it up into a couch. I told her she still has to be careful with it and not romp around on it. We still need to finish cleaning up her room and put the other bunk in Logan's room. I'm gonna convert it into a loft bed for Logan.

A short walk down to the little store

We took a walk with the dog down to the store to get diet soda to have with lunch. Here's Logan. He loves the new shirts he got from Pawpaw and Dana.Likewise, Lexie hardly goes anywhere without this little jacket they gave her...unless it is just to ungodly cold out.

Logan and Splott (and I) waited outside the store while Lexie went in to get the soda.

Lo-carb Sushi

This is my lo-carb sushi. It is coldcuts with cheese, red bell pepper and mayo wrapped in lettuce then the whole thing is wrapped in roasted seaweed. The stuff on top is horseradish sauce. That gives it a bit of a kick!

Jekyll...by BBC

This is the other thing I did this weekend besides laundry. The actor's name is James Nesbit and he was really good in the role of a modern-day Doctor Jekyll, Mr. Hyde. Very well done mini-series by BBC. I watched it online at Netflix. You can watch some of their movies and TV shows online as opposed to waiting for them to come in the mail. The quality is pretty decent (enough so it doesn't detract from most stuff) and they have a fair selection. Also, it's free to watch as many of them as you want while you have a subscription.

Guitar Hero World Tour

The kids got Guitar Hero World Tour from their grandparents this Christmas. I have to say that video games have gotten much better in 20+ years since I've played regularly. It has been a long time since I had the sore fingers and thumbs that go with more than a few minutes of playing a video game. This thing is addictive, especially if you like rock music. Atari never had anything near this cool. Its nice to have something to do in between sets of laundry and housework on the weekends when I don't have the kids. I promise not to wear it out though. It is their gift after all. ;)

Splott

This is my dumb dog. I don't think I've put a picture of him on here in a while, so I thought I would try taking a few snapshots. He looks stupid licking his face...
