scooter

The guy who comes in work at night to clean up owns a scooter. He says they're great fun and he and his family ride theirs every Saturday. I asked him "why not a motorcycle?" and he told me because his scooter is almost nothing to maintain, it cost only $1500 brand new (he's had his since 2002), its automatic, and insurance is $80 per year! He rides it all day on Saturday for about 9 months of the year. He says it costs him $2-3 per week in gas!

slobs!

The people who moved in to my building are slobs. They hang out in the doorways smoking, they throw their crap out on the lawn, sit on their balcony with the screen open blaring nasty rap music... I don't want them pissed at me or else I would complain. Not that I think they are dangerous, but they could key my car or something.

oh...this could really be bad

work just gave me a wireless card for my laptop. checked with IT and they said its an unlimited data plan. there's no rules saying that i can't use it in my home laptop, which boils down to 'internet anywhere'. I'm going to do a speed test in various places before I decide to axe Insight alltogether. Here at work inside my office not using wifi or lan I was getting around 250 kbps

Cub Scouts on Thursdays!!!

Cub Scouts sounds like it is going to be really fun for Logan. There
is lots of camping (which he loves) and they will be working on their
BB (air gun) Belt soon!!! Dues aren't too bad, but the uniform will
be around $30 or so. The den leader said we should wait in case there
are any cub scouts moving to boy scouts who donate their shirt or
kerchiefs or whatever. Considering how big and how tall Logan is,
I'll probably have to buy them new. She said to make sure and get
them big so they can last a couple years. I'm so excited!!! I want
him to go all the way to Eagle Scout. I made it to Webelos.

Cub Scouts is nothing like Girl Scouts has been for Lexie. They
really emphasize the duty to God and country, helping others, learning
skills, and morally, mentally, and physically strong. It's nothing
like a Bratz commercial on TV. Also, unlike Girl Scouts, family is
welcome at just about anything. Chances are I will have to take
Lexie, but she is welcome and we have a much better time with her
anyway. All the camping trips involve the whole family. You have to
fill out a Personal Health and Medical Record on each person, but
that's not anything you have to go get a physical for.

stingray

Logan was amazed by the stingray they had in Feeders. It did seem very social like it wanted attention or something.

birdie at feeders

we were a little early for Logan's Cub Scouts meeting last night so we spent 15 minutes at feeders pet supply on Bardstown near the Gene Snyder. The meeting was quick.

warning label on plastic bag

this was the visual warning label on a plastic bag i found in the IT guy's office. WARNING: DO NOT LET CRAWLING BABIES SEAL THIS BAG OVER THEIR HEADS LIKE A BALLOON OR SPACE SUIT HELMET!!

Jeronimo at Slugger Field

This is one of the blackbelts from Mexico I work with.

<--pass suicide-->

The bumper on this guy's van indicated that if you pass him on the right, it's suicide. It must mean HIS suicide because he was doing (what I perceived to be) under the (not necessarily posted) speed limit and I passed him. I would say that if I were going to have such a bumper sticker, I'd feel obligated to follow up on it. I mean you don't see a Ford driver having the decal with the little boy that looks like Calvin peeing on the Ford symbol stuck blatantly to his rear window...

kiss on the cheek

Lexie doesnt like Logan trying to kiss her. its so funny

Playing at the Oxmoor Boat

Im ready to split the girls up! They are purposefully irritating one another. When they aren't they're teaming up to exclude Logan from playing with them. Girls are just mean. Rachael is mean by not sharing then Lexie kicks her then its Lexie kicked me! then i tell Lex not to kick but then Rachael kicks her back so i tell her to stop then Lex sulks and Rachael goes over and sits up against Lexie and Lexie gets mad and storms off. i said to Rachael "you like to annoy Lexie, don't you? and she nods her head yes. How can I blame her...Logan and I both annoy her because its just so much fun! Now Lexie is trying to stay mad but she can't so she runs away. Each one is a total goofball!!!

Impromptu Pasta

this turned out really good: Ingredients - cold leftover plain spaghetti, 1 large tomato (chopped), 1 tsp olive oil, 1 tsp water. toss all together evenly coating the pasta with the oil and water. add dried (fresh would be better) cilantro, lemon pepper, chopped garlic and parmesan cheese to taste. place in a microwave dish. cook on high for 2 minutes. If you wanted extra protien, you could add some pre-cooked shrimp or chicken. Serves 1-2. How's that for easy???

Logan and Cub Scouts

Logan has his first Cub Scouts meeting on Monday! i am so excited for him!!!

Bod "Black"

"Smooth, potent and smokin' hot. So beyond what you 'or she' has ever smelled before. Irresistibly sexy!" is what the bottle said. But I never read it until after the dentist office today when the secretary said she was having a hard time concentrating! She made like five comments about how good I smelled. She asked me "do you have on Bod Black?" and I was totally surprised because nobody ever asks me. I put it on this morning and its not like I bathed in the stuff... I was out of "everyday scent" and it was on sale. I used the orange kind (Rock Hard I think) and Theresia said she liked it, but I haven't seen that flavor in a while so I got this stuff because it was cheap and came with body wash. Well, regardless I'll wear it until its gone even if nobody else likes it.

crown back on

im trying to get the crown put back on my molar but i have a cavity they have to fill. they cant fill it because then the cap wont fit. my cost after insurance is $600! Im left wondering why i even HAVE insurance!!! Needless to say, it will have to wait. they are putting a temporary glue on my cap... ugh...

Tmo Dash Stealth Phone

I got this "phone condom" silicone case for my dash. I was scared to death I would drop it and job it all up. I like the Dash so far. It takes better pictures than the MDA and (so far) doesn't bog down...

i'd hit that funny tshirt

i saw this tshirt on www.bustedtees.com and thought it was funny. they have some good shirts there...very ammusing. also www.defunker.com had some interesting ones too. check them out if you get a chance. if you get 3 shirts at bustedtees, you get free shipping.

logan's new pet

we had to go to Walgreens last night to get a couple of things, and Lex saw some headbands she needed. it was only fair to let Logan get something too. Here lately I have let them pick out something (occasionally) in a store, but the rule has been "no toys". They have gotten to the point where they almost don't ask anymore. Logan knew not to ask for a toy. When he saw the "carniverous plants" display, he was so excited about the octopus plant thay he couldn't stand it. So i figured it could be considered educational enough to get it. Hope it lives for a while...

my new car

ok...just kidding. but it would be cool to have one. well, not THIS one.

lunch at KFC...tunes

i havent really had the money until payday on friday or since then the time to go grocery shopping and so i really didnt have anything much to take for lunch so i got the two piece snack at KFC. it was not bad, like three something. anyway the one here on outer loop has a jukebox thing on the wall and you can program free music. it had a couple good songs but mainly a lot of country and pop. still, it was sort of cool. i returned logans backpack that the zipper kept breaking. the new one is an adidas brand and looks much sturdier.

layaway hell

we have so many layaways that they opened up the top rack. the friggin thing is 15 feet up in the air! this picture is from me on the top step of the rolling warehouse ladder!

The Post Office burnt down!

Here at work, the Post Office caught on fire this week. I don't know how it happened but i'm just glad nothing of ours was destroyed...at least i haven't heard of anything!

Awesome Beanage

I made these beans yesterday in the slow cooker that turned out better than i've made in a long time. I brought some for lunch today and I don't think i'll mind eating them a couple times this week!

Beautiful, and SMART too!

I am so lucky to have found Theresia. She is really wonderful. We haven't spent much time together lately, but I have seen her the past two Wednesday nights! One cool thing: Theresia works for a job placement company. They do temp, temp-to-hire, and permanent placements. She has worked there for a long time as the receptionist-she does such a fantastic job that it goes far beyond 'receptionist'. That's why her emails are titled 'Director of First Impressions'! Anyway, she is going to start training for a Recruiter position! This will be more challenging, and more responsibility, but I know she can handle it. I have tons of faith in her, I know how intelligent she really is, and if there ever was someone who could be described as a "people person" it is her. She relates so well, even to strangers! She totally rocks!

Wednesday, August 15, 2007

I told her three times...

...to get up! So now she gets her picture taken! No, seriously, they are doing very good for their first week back. She did tell me "I need a combination lock" at the last minute, but hey-I forget things too. Like I did all their paperwork and forgot Logans internet usage policy form. I sent notes to the teachers on the first day telling them I want to know about sports and scouts. Logan's teacher Ms. Williams already sent back a message saying she would keep me informed. I hope I hear the same from Lexie's teacher Ms. White.

Chicken bone!

I walk outside my apartment and there's a friggin chicken bone laying on the asphalt in the parking lot next to my car! These bunch of hillbilly rednecks that live here are driving me crazy!

Whoa...i am glad

I am so glad at this point in time that a) I decided to switch to the Tmo Dash. and b) I had a glass od rum and iced tea. If you have never tried the latter, you are certainly missing out. Rum (amber or gold-never silver) is also very tasty in hot tea. Just about 1/4 to 1/2 a cup per pot of tea is quite refreshing after a long day of troubleshooting EDI issues (or whateverthehellelse you have going on). You may opt to drink the entire pot of tea after that first glass, but if you don't repeat this nightly or several times in one evening (especially that) then you should be ok. You know what really burns me up? I mean besides unscrupulous b@st@rds, Starbucks prices, the inconvenience of technical cellular problems, disinterested teachers, potheads, companies that only care about the bottom line, gas prices, bad 'd' grade horror movies with awesomely misleading trailers, people who are proud of their stupidity or ignorance, gas price fluctuation, two-faced persons, organizations that only pretend to help, the fact they took the cancer warning off of my pink sweetener, coffee shops that don't have the yellow sweetener, pretty girls who have no substance or personality, life-coasters, the it-went-on-sale-right-after-you-bought-it syndrome, snobs, people who don't even hear their own good advice, Slinky knock-offs that tangle too easy, The Park at Hurstborne maintenance, ice cream cones that melt too quick, The Insight Cable (practically speaking) Monopoly, the destruction of the ozone layer, putting the F-word in movies merely to adjust the rating, people who bash Wedding Crashers or Hot Fuzz without fully understanding these movies, wine or beer snobs, people who forget where they are going in a diatribe... It was one glass, not the whole pot-I swear!

Hanging out with my sister at Heine Bros

Today after work, I met Patti at Heine Brother's Coffee. We talked about stuff and just played catch up. She is directionally impared or something because we were supposed to meet at Highlands Coffee Shop but she couldn't find it. Oh, now I remember, when I said "Meet me at Highlands Coffee Shop" she thought I meant "any coffee shop in the highlands". That's ok... I love her anyway.

Entrance to 'the bat cave'

There is a back-back door here at work that comes up right beside Mary's office. The stairwell is like the bat cave...all closed in and freaky. I have used it twice now and I like it. its like ten steps from my office door. The hemotologist called today. He was not able to get in touch with the man who put in my filter, but he thinks I should just keep going like I am and not start on blood thinners. I have to keep a close eye on the swelling in my legs to make sure I don't develop a clot, but is better than the risk of a stroke or anurism with the blood thinners...

Living on the edge~texting in traffic

When a thought strikes me and I have to get it down, I do it even if I'm in traffic. That's bad, I know... I spoke to Tmo today about the little problems I've been having with this phone. The digitizer goes out of alignment, I get freezes sometimes, and I have synched and lost some data which it didn't pick up for some reason. I told them I'd done some research and that if I could install WM6.0 that it was supposedly much more stable than 5.0. She said the Tmo Dash has 6.0 upgrade availability but there is nothing for my MDA. She said she could swap out my MDA for a Dash for free. I was like 'ok'. So they are sending it. The two big differences for me is :the Dash can only view MS Office dox & sheets. There is optional software you can get for under $29 that allows you to edit, so I can live with that. The other biggie (which will take mucho adjusting) is that it does not support touch screen input. I'm used to pecking with a stylus since my old Palm M100 days. This will be hard... Also, the Dash has a micro SD card slot instead of a mini...so my 1GB card will not work. I guess I can just sell the mini... This gal I know says her friend has a Dash and loves it. I'm going to try it for a while and if I don't like it I will go back to the MDA.

End of summer face

I asked the kids what they wanted to do since this was the last day of summer break. Lexie said 'get ice-cream!' so I took them to the 'Barrel of Fun' on (I think) Smyrna Road. I found that place when we went fishing at McNeeley Lake Park. It was good...we got brown derby's. I just wish they had breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches like Polly's Freeze in Georgetown Indiana does.

King of the World!

Logan felt like king of the world on his first day in 1st grade.

On the bus

I waited around to make sure they made it on the bus.

Mayor of the Whoos

Lexie said this made Logan look like the mayor of the Whoo people on The Grinch

Logan's Reverse Mohawk

I did this to Logan when I cut his hair today. We all thought it was funny.

Special Day~Special Breakfast

We were outside playing most of the day yesterday. We went fishing and caught some bluegill-they are soaking in salt water in the fridge. We also went to the library, and shopping for clothes(Pawpa and Dana gave the kids each $10 to spend). We watched a couple movies when it was too hot to do anything outside. I fixed Glop for lunch. This morning I have to gather up all the school uniforms and make sure they are clean, mended if necessary(the hems) and wash them. While I'm washing over at my girlfriend's house(she is so sweet to let me use her washer and dryer) then I am going to weed-eat her yard. To start the day, and since it is the last day of summer break for the kids, I made pancakes...a horse(blob) for Lexie and a Aladdin's lamp(blob) for Logan. The lamp was supposed to be a space ship...

Layaway Injury

Ok, so I know its not much of an injury, but I was worried I might bleed on somebodys clothes. I had four people just come in to pick up their layaways and I swear each one had at least 30 items!! And the first woman didn't want a couple things in her layaway and couldn't understand that she had to buy all the stuff she put on layaway, THEN return it next as a separate transaction. New registers suck for customers but make things easier for us.. Whoo hoo.

Cindy & Work

Cindy (what the kids named the Alero) seems to be doing a little better. *knocks on wood* She is badly in need of brakes which I may try to do something about this weekend. Maybe... Anybody know how to replace pads?? The IT guy here at work said that instead of the company paying for my internet through Insight, they might just give me a wireless card for my laptop. That could be neat. I could check email and do my work literally anywhere cell service is available. Its supposed to be somewhat slower, but I don't care. I'm not usually loading anything more than pictures of the kids. I had a minor fiasco today at work. I had the backup info on the situation and presented it to my boss who went 2 rungs up the ladder and supported me to his boss and his bosses' boss. That was good. Its easy to be here because everybody is (with a few *cough* exceptions *sales*) great to work with and nobody gives you any sh*t if you do the right thing to take care of the customer. I did a little tech support/training today for my girlfriend's boss. Her name is Sandy and she's always been nice to me. Occasionally someone at their office will ask me for help on Excel, Outlook or some other Windows issue. I'm always happy to help because it gives me the chance to help somebody who appreciates it. Also, sometimes its something I don't know and then I have a reason to learn something new! I need to start bringing something to drink here to work. Today I was so thirsty I couldn't eat my lunch. That seemed weird, but after about 1/2 a soda, I felt much better...

Supper: Sweet Bermuda Onion Grippos!

Anybody heard of these???? They were KILLER!!!

Breakfast

One of the ladies here at work brought in a huge bowl of fruit! I'm having a coffee cup full for breakfast!

New Clothes

At my 2nd job, they had double discount days for employees, so I let the kids go pick an aoufit each. Logan tried on his shorts and they fit, but I must have picked up the wrong pair when I left the area or something because we got home and they were too little. Lexie ended up with a t-shirt and jean capris. Their granny Dana just told me last night that if I ever wash them in anything but cold, or dry them using a dryer, they will be teddy bear clothes. I am really going to have to watch them. I wash and dry everything the same!!! Logan picked out a nice South Pole shirt.

Still not right...

I got my car back yesterday from the shop. They had to replace the electronic ignition also. Another $200... The bad thing is I went out to my car at 1030 and although it did start, the dash lights were all out. Plus some of the weather stripping was ripped off when I picked it up, but I just pushed it back on. The disturbing thing is that when I got my stuff out of the trunk, I noticed that the middle break light was staying on! My other brake lights are off. Also there are black marks on the passenger side seat that looks like grease or oil. I took the battery cable off last nigtht so it wouldn't be dead this morning.

Luck

Since I've been dating my wonderful girlfriend Theresia Tsueda, I've become a bit more positive and optimistic. I am therefore happy to announce that the fuel pump the put in my car was bad. I am willing to ignore the bad luck of being the person who gets a brand new fuel pump that's bad, and be extremely happy that its under agreement that the shop will not charge me any more, and is just going to take the new pump out and put an even newer one in! Whew! That's a load off my mind!

TJ the Juvenile Delinquent Dumb*ss

This is the guy who I work with some times. He is a Moron. He is 17, and one night after work he went in to Kroger's to buy condoms and they refused to sell them to him. Well, I personally think its much lesser evil than the alternative, but anyway-he gets p*ssed and throws his $10 (which includes an extra couple bucks) and tells the cashier he's taking them anyway. So about 45 seconds later he's in cuffs. The cashier decided it was theft, called the police who were RIGHT OUTSIDE and they came over and got him. He told me that he was on house arrest with his dad taking responsibility for him until trial. He said they told him if his father says he was doing ok, he wouldn't have to do public service, pay fines, or anything. I said "that seems harsh for such a small offense." He told me he had been in trouble a lot of other times... I told him "well, I guess this is what you can expect." He just said "yeah." Well the district manager was in last night when I got there. No big deal to me. We did have to work until 1030 which sucked, but I've done it before. With the waiting for the towtruck, I got to bed about 1am. I called my nephew Bob to see if he could give me a ride home, but he didn't call me back until almost 1am. He gets off work at 9 so I thought he might be free, but I guess he was busy. I only know 2 other night shifters: my ex, and my brother Mike. Mike was not at work. He was home asleep in Indiana but he said he would be happy to come and get me. Luckily the wrecker guy was able to take me home. He was much better than the idiot they sent last Wednesday! My 1st job had me get a passport so I would be prepared to go to the head office in Mexico, but they've said nothing about it so far. I'm not counting any chickens. I did ask Mike and his ex-wife Terri (who he lives with) if they could watch the kids on Monday and he said he didn't think it would be a problem. I asked their grandparents but never heard back. I figure they are on vacation. The thing is I really wanted to go see them because its Granny Dana's birthday. We will have to catch up with them soon...you know if/when I have a car!!!

How far will these take me?

Well, my car stranded me again tonight. I just got home (1am) and I'm dropping into bed. I will have to call Theresia in the morning and see if I can get a ride. The Alero is back in the shop.
