Lexie's ears

Lexie took her Christmas money and got her ears pierced.

haircut and pierced ears

Lexie used the rest of her Christmas money to get her ears pierced. we got 14k gold because last time her ears got icky and wouldn't heal right. from everything i've heard it was not infected because they did not swell up, turn red, or grow over the posts. Hopefully she will have better luck this time.

haircut for Logan

we had a coupon for greatclips

Christmas Morning

Lexie opening presents...

Friday night before Christmas

Shizue and I went to get a quick bite and we wanted wing, so we went to TK's pub. We went pretty late and they had a good band playing. I don't remeber the name, and they weren't to great but I liked all the songs they covered. We were going to stay a little while, but smoke started getting to us when we moved over to the bar area to get closer.

Lindsey & Christmas Eve

Theresia and I watched "I Know Who Killed Me" on Saturday night. It was better than I thought it would be. Tonight we attempted to watch the new Potter movie with the kids, but we all fell asleep. I woke up at around 1am and wrapped presents until just now. I am pretty exhausted but I can't sleep.

Lexie & Friends

I don't remember their names. There is a Marissa and a Katie. Don't know the last one, and I will have to get Lex to tell me later which is which.

Doughnuts with Dad

Today was "Doughnuts with Dad" at school. Logan reminded me at about 6:45 this morning so I got them to school at 7:30 and spent about an hour and a half hanging out with them. They always take polaroid pictures to raise money and I got this picture and one of Lexie and her cadre of girlfriends.

Whats So Great About Scooters? Why Should You Care? - Wheels - Autos - New York Times Blog

This is an interesting article I found regarding scooters. It would be news to most people in the U.S. Whats So Great About Scooters? Why Should You Care?

Pack Meeting - Ice Sculpture

The kids didn't get to see the guy make this ice sculpture but they both thought it was really cool. No pun intended by them, I'm sure...

marshmallow treat

Logan made this wierd marshmallow treat.

marshmallow

Now Logan EATS the wierd marshmallow treat.

skit at the pack meeting

they did skits at the pack meeting and the tigers sang rudolph the red nosed reindeer

Helmet

The helmet came in today. It feels tight, but from what I read, you want them tight because they will loosen up over time. I think it makes me look like a big bubble-head freak, but I don't care so much as long as i'm seen and protected.

Viva 250 Fire-Engine Red!

I went to look at helmets last night at CC Rider. They had this Viva 250cc scooter they were trying to sell me, but they wanted $2400 for it, which I'm not ready to pay yet, and also it's used--they are asking more than you can get them new online. You can get them for $1800 day after day. Plus its the body style--I like the Reflex style better. Here's one with identical color and body style as to what they are selling...

Pelmeni

I watched these two movies...Night Watch and Day Watch. They wereRussian sci-fi like movies along the lines of The Matrix. Anyway, inthe movies, they are eating dumplings like we would eat a hamburger,so the last time I went to the International Supermarket, I picked upsome of these chicken pelmeni. You eat them with butter or sourcream. I had a bowl of them with butter on Sunday for supper. It wasok...not bad, but not anything to give up pizza over. Then today Ihad some with sour cream. Man, what a difference! They areawesome!!! You gotta try some. At the IS in J-town they are like$5.99 for a frozen bag. They look a little like tortilini.

protection-stormtrooper style

I did my research (tell me--when have you known me NOT to research something I'm buying?) and the best advice is for crash protection: a full-face helmet, and for visibility: white or neon. Well I'm not much on neon colors, so I thought white would be ok. Then I got thinking that if I'm going to look 90% like a stormtrooper, "why don't I see if they make a stormtrooper motorcycle helmet!" Nearest I can figure, they do...um, did...make 500 of them. So its the "Holy Grail Effect". I'm going to look for one similar to this pic.

yes, this food is pink

The key to creative left-overing today is bravery.

A Christmas Carol

Saturday night, Theresia and I went to Actor's Theatres production of A Christmas Carol. It was very good, with numerous special effects we would have never dreamed of at NAHS when we did it. I had the part of Jacob Marley that time. We did a mini-version so we could take it to all the elementary schools. It really made me remember the whole thing when they sang "Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat! Please put a penny in the old man's hat. If you haven't got a penny then a ha'penny will do, if you haven't got a ha'penny then God bless you!" After you've sang it a hundred times (more like a thousand because it repeats) you never forget it.

boots for Lexter

I found these boots at AJ Wright and I sent this picture to the kid's mother. She showed (only) Logan for me and we all agree that Lexie will like them. I got them Friday after work. Done with shopping until next payday.

Christmas Shopping 2

I got just a couple more things.  I got Lexie ear-buds she's been wanting for her MP3 player which she's getting instead of the sculpey clay.  I had a littlest pet shop toy that I was going to take back to Walmart since I found the ten-pack online, but Logan is ahead of her on dollar value and I try to keep them the same, so I'm giving her that instead of a couple little pet shop figures.  I still have to find those darn boots, or something similar.

I found the Cube World thing for Logan.  For around $20 I got him a set of graphite drawing pencils, a nice hardbound sketchbook, and a book on how to draw dinosaurs.  Now all I need is a couple small things--probably the Suncatcher and Model Magic Fusion.

I hope to find the boots at Payless today after work...  they said they may have a truck in and stock out today.

bourbon ball overkill?

For the first batch of bourbon balls i used wild turkey 101. Do you think thats overkill? its for the cookie exchange at work...those people need some holiday cheer! i ate two and was warm and toasty! logan had one in his mouth chewing it for a good twenty seconds before he made a face and spit it out. Lexie tried just a bit leftover off the spoon with a lot of powdered sugar. she said "it was good at first then when i got the aftertaste i almost threw up!" That's about what im looking for...

goose egg

the kids were playing with the seat belt and Logan got whacked in the fod. he didn't cry, but it looks bad and Lexie keeps telling him he's brain damaged. Logan just asked me if he was retarded now.

This is my mission...

this is the type of boot i am looking for in size 7.5 for Lexie

Jake, The American Elf

The school had a program last night "Christmas around the world". Logan was Jake, the American Elf. He held the red booklet up in front of his face the whole time he was reading his lines...even though he knew them and didn't really need to READ THEM! What a goofball! That's ok...he was still adorable, and fit right in with all the rest of the kids who did the same thing.

Christmas Shopping

I'm about 85% done with the Christmas shopping for the kids. Here's
what they're getting.

For Lexie
From Daddy: 2 pair of jeans, Pink Butterfly Top(shirt), Tennis Shoes,
Nerf Rapid-fire 20.
From Logan: Littlest Pet Shop Paws Off Electronic Diary
From Santa: Littlest Pet Shop Pack of 10 (shipping from Amazon),
Barbie Tanner (pooping dog), Sculpey clay*, 2 individual Littlest Pet
Shop figures*.

For Logan:
From Daddy: 2 pair of jeans, Green shirt, Red shirt, Nerf Longshot Gun.
From Lexie: Cube World game*
From Santa: Flytech Dragonfly, something for about $20*, Suncatcher
kit*, Model Magic Fusion*

*I still have to get the (*) items. I'm going today to try and find
these things but I might have to wait for this weekend.

I really wanted to get Logan a drawing kit. I might see if I can find
one at Hobby Lobby for around $20. Also really wanted to get Lexie
those boots, but they are $35-40 so... These days seems like it's
just rent, utilities, gas, groceries....

I did a fair bit of shopping online this year. I have 3 different
shipments to track and worry about...that's always fun.

rednecks gone?

it looks like the rednecks who lived diagonal from me finally were either evicted or moved out. they left all their crap outside and the dumpster is overflowing but at least they won't be loitering around the entrance to the building, having really loud parties and music, using really bad language, smoking and drinking, leaving trash in the hall, and jacking into the electric from the hallway.

bumper sticker

ok, you can't really see it... Translation: YOUR GIRLFRIEND TALKS IN HER SLEEP. Now that is pretty funny but what I want to know is where did he meet Theresia?

My little Thespian

Logan is learning his lines for the first play he's ever been in. Its on Tuesday at 530 at his school. He's Jack(may have the name wrong) the American Elf. The name of the play is "Christmas around the World". They should have given him the part of Santa, darn it!!

holiday decoration for the door

i took the dripping blood from Halloween down so i wanted something else up for december. I made this with $5 of stuff from the Dollar Tree. It has two packs of incense hanging at the bottom-pine and cinnamon. Both those smells make me feel like Christmas. I'm not going to burn them, just want to get a whiff of them when I come in the apartment.

Chuck & Larry

I watched several movies this weekend. Started off Thursday after our Thanksgiving dinner with "Ratatouille"-just me and the kids. It was actually cute... Friday night watched "Live Free or Die Hard" with Theresia which was completely killer! It was catch-up-on-laundry weekend. Loads 1 and 2 was "Reeker". "Reeker" was a B horror flick. I would not waste time watching it again. Saturday night we went to see "The Mist". I commented on that earlier...'nuff said. On Sunday, loads 3 and 4 consisted of "The Condemned". It was an action movie and despite the fact that it looks to be made by the wrestling people, it was not that bad. Continuing through the sheets and towels was "I Now Pronounce You, Chuck and Larry" which was funny and I WOULD watch it again (but not multiple times).
I still have one more movie to watch but I saw it in the theater already so I'm saving it for last. That would be "28 Weeks Later".

The Mist

Theresia and I went to a movie this weekend. It was a Steven King made movie called The Mist. I really thought it was a cool movie, all the way up until the last 5 minutes. I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't say what happened. I will just say that Theresia and I just sat there at the end with our mouths open staring at the screen in disbelief and disappointment. It is worth going to see.

Important Note: Lexie and Logan Sizes

After talking to the kid's mom, we both decided it would be best if we started putting the kids in the next size up. They have been the same size for a while now, so they might be due to sprout up, and if you get something that just fits, then they grow...that's a lot of useless clothing.

I'm going with Lg Husky shirts for Logan, and XXL Plus-size girls for Lexie. Lexie can wear some ladies/misses/juniors/womens clothing, notably the women's 14P jeans, but each of the categories comes in a different size, and it's hard for me to keep it straight. Likewise, in short-sleeved shirts, Logan can wear a Small, and pants--he's 33" waist I believe. The only sure way is to have them try things on. Most pants will need hemmed severly, so I have to keep that in mind. Cargo pants for Logan would end up with pockets at the ankles, and any glittery decoration at the bottom of a pair of Lexie's pants would end up in the trash. *sigh*

nerf gun fights

the kids have really been playing with the nerf guns they got for Christmas LAST year. They only have a couple bullets, but they have such a good time chasing each other around.

LEXIE AND LOGAN'S CHRISTMAS LIST

The following posts will be pictures of what Lexie and Logan want for Christmas, along with details if necessary.

Only leaving this up till after Christmas.

Japanese vs. Chinese Scooters

I joined the Honda Reflex Owner's Group on yahoo last week--just as reference material--and also because the other scooter groups I belong to have sort of slacked off. I have a theory. I have not been on there enough to draw a solid conclusion yet, but here goes:

The problems with the Chinese scooters are problems with the
engineering, parts supply, and design of the scooters. Poor assembly and sometimes cheaper materials makes the Chinese scooters experience problems much sooner than the Japanese scooters. The same problems happen to your fine Japanese machines, but at 10,000 miles instead of 1,000 or 20,000 instead of 2,000. The real difference is the mindset.

With the Japanese scoots, you pay your money up front to forestall problems with your scooter and when they do happen, you pay your money to someone else to fix them. With the Chinese, you know there will be problems, you prepare for them, they happen sooner, and you fix them
yourself.

I see these guys talking about bad stators, wiring problems, muffler gaskets, even so far I have heard "hard to get parts" and "in the shop for weeks". So I'm guessing they feel all the same pain--just a little later in life!

Thanksgiving cooking a big meal

This is my 2nd thanksgiving cooking a big meal. This time i stuffed the turkey with onion, and wedges of lemon, lime, and orange. I put a few slices on top, and sprinkled grilled chickens spice over the top. It came out pretty good. I also fixed stuffing, mashed potatoes, candied yams with black walnuts, green beans almondine, broccoli in cheese sauce, fresh baked bread, and cranberry sauce with lemon zest. For dessert we had pumpkin bread, and brownies baked in the replacement for the Exploding Pyrex Pan. Whipped cream to top these both.

The Exploding Pyrex Pan

You know what happens when you turn on the wrong cap, and your Pyrex 9 x 13 baking pan is on it? Well, nothing immediately, but in a short while it will literally explode with deadly force. My pretty blue pan--THE ONE I HAD A LID FOR--exploded. I was cleaning up glass for an hour!

Fifth Place

Lexie's grades were not so hot this last grading period. It is due mainly to her horrible handwriting. She avoids writing as much as possible and when she does write, its almost illegible. She has not been getting credit for some things because the teachers can not read her answers. Spelling is an issue as well. She is practising writing (its actually printing) each night by copying stuff I give her. I have been getting paragraphs off wikipedia about various animals. Now if she can just do as well in class, she should be ok. Last week, she had a science project due. She timed a trained gerbil through a maze and then an untrained gerbil. The idea was to prove her theory that the trained gerbil would be faster at finding the food than the untrained gerbil. Even though her experiment was unsuccessful she still got fifth place out of her entire grade. That was over 100 kids! Pictured is her ribbon...

The boat!

We took the kids to the boat at the Oxmoor mall. It looks boring to me, but the kids always love it. Rachael and Lex were doing some wierd advanced patty-cake game. Logan was trying to climb and before that they were all playing tag. I think every kid on the playground was in the game because it was just a lot of running and screaming! Its good to let them burn off that excess energy even when the weather is bad, and the boat is perfect for that. My kids need to remain as active as possible so they don't end up trapped in a slow, broken-down body and have to get it overhauled like I did.

Iron Man - Trailer

I am so stoked about this movie!!! I just learned of it's existence while doing my quick once-over of my Maxim (December issue). Maxim always as really cool stuff, and a lot of good humor. Anyway, I can't WAIT to see this movie! It looks like it mimics the recent animated release The Invincible Iron Man somewhat. I was at first put off by Robert Downey Jr. in the lead role, but then as Maxim explains it, he's perfect for the Tony Stark image. Especially the alcoholic part. Anyway, check out the trailer on Apple. It's the bomb!

Undead Podcast 1 - November

I'm just starting to play around with the concept of a podcast. This is my first "live" attempt at a finished project. It has some decent music selections as well as what I think is at least a small amount of humor interjected. If you are feeling brave, or bored (either in the extreme) visit the Undead Podcast November Edition

Annoy-a-tron!!!!!!

Oh my God! A cooler invention has never been conceived!!!! There is this programmer guy here at work named Grady. I have known him for two years now and he is one of the coolest guys around. He helps me out a lot with custom programming and stuff. Well anyway, this is his last year here, so I wanted to get him something as a retirement present. Not anything expensive or anything, just something that would be suitable to his personality and that he might think was neat. I found the http://www.thinkgeek.com/ web site when I googled "programmer gifts". I ended up getting him a clock. It tells time in binary! You have to look at the LED's that are lit up and then figure out what the time is based on that. Its HERE if you want to take a gander.

Anyway, I found THIS GADGET called the Annoy-a-Tron while I was looking for the gift, and I just HAD to get it. I am going to start using it ASAP to drive people completely insane! I just can not wait!!!
