Check Out You Tube

If you have not checked out You Tube, you need to look at it sometime. My nephew Bobby first showed it to me at Thanksgiving, and although I still have not gone thru it much, I did sign up for an account today. I videos of the kids on there, with more to come. Here's Theresia geared up for paintball!!!

Brownies startup, birthday preps, YR

Lexie had her first Brownies (Girlscouts) meeting last night. It went well and she had fun. Logan and I stayed and worked on his homework and he read me a book. Damn he is doing rather well. I also finished filling out invitations to his birthday party which is Feb 10th at 2pm. We are not doing a pool party, but all guests are welcome to use the pool after the party. Its at the same place where Lexie's was last year. All readers of this blog (the few) are of course welcome. I'm going shopping this weekend for his birthday presents. Whatever is left from what Lexie didn't get or I didn't get, I will post so everyone can see what he wants. This is his first birthday where he can invite classmates!

Thursday is Young Rembrandts for Logan. I can't wait to see how he does!!!!

Craziness at work/Shopping for Logan

There is a lot of chaos at work right now that I am dealing with. My boss quit suddenly (I knew she was not happy there, but...) so there is a lot of changes. The big guys from corporate are coming in this week to make decisions.

The kids and I had a good weekend--we always do. We watched a really cute movie called Akeelah and the Bee. It was a little girl who won the national spelling bee contest. It had some good actors in it and held my attention. Went to lunch once and dinner once this weekend, and church was good yesterday.

Logan's BD party is the 10th and this is the final daddy weekend before the party. I had nobody to watch him so I could take her shopping so I took my digital camera, we took pictures of the stuff Logan wants, and she picked out of those things. I will have to go back this weekend when they are with their mom and get the things she wanted for him.

SNOWBALL FIGHT!!!

The kids got up for school this morning. They were eating breakfast
(cereal that they picked out themselves last night at the store) and I
told them to stop for a second and come to the window. You should
have seen how their eyes lit up at seeing the snow--meager fall such
as it was. They were more excited about this white powder than they
were about opening presents on Christmas! They ate so fast you could
barely see the spoon. I told them "Oh look! It says on the TV that
school has been cancelled!" and they said "Really?!??!" Then I said
"Hah! No!!!!" and they replied "Oh, daddy!" I mess with them all the
time like that. They are pretty much used to it. *grins*

Anyway, we got outside before the bus and had a 10 minute snowball
fight! They were grinning like mad and running around scooping up
snow. It was awesome, and I came into work in a better mood than I
have been in for months.

Logan's fingers look a little better. I forgot to put lotion on them
this morning, but we did last night. I guess they snow would have
washed it off anyway. My boss didn't come in yesterday or today. I
know she has been unhappy here. Maybe she quit and didn't tell
anybody.

Logan's Hands

My God! You should see Logan's hands! His fingers look like they've
been eaten up by battery acid or something! His mother drops him off
and said she got him Friday and they went to Tommy's for dinner. She
went to wash his hands and he screamed! They are healing now and he
says they don't hurt, but all the skin is gone off his little fingers
and they are dry and cracked. She didn't tell me until she dropped
them off, and I was almost in tears looking at them. I couldn't keep
from taking his fingers and kissing them, and asking him over and over
if they hurt. He was picking at the dead skin like any little boy
would, and I made him stop. I sent a note to school asking his
teacher if he may have come into contact with any sort of chemical, or
a new lotion, soap, or hand sanitizer.

Walking

So I have been walking on my lunch time at work. I was feeling like a
loser for not getting exercise, and I don't want to take time away
from being with the kids, so I had been just not doing anything. I
thought I would walk at lunch to just get SOME exercise, thinking that
at least a little bit is better than nothing. For the last couple
weeks, I've been making 2-3 circuits around the building and doing it
2 or 3 times each week. I thought it can't be very far, but at least
it's something. Well, today was cold and I got started late so I
walked twice, and then I decided I would drive around one time just to
see how far I had been walking. It is a solid half mile around the
building! So if I do it 3 times, then that's 1.5 miles. If I go 4
times it's 2 miles. If I can walk 2 miles a day every day (my goal)
then I will feel better. And hopefully I will lose a couple pounds.

Logan's OUTSTANDING 18 wk report

Logan ha progressed from satisfactory and satisfactory+ to downright outstanding. Hell if I truly understand this stuff--i'm from back when we got A's, B's, C's and D's. But I do know that Outstanding is the very best you can get. Well maybe outstanding+ but I bet nobody ever gets that. Notice where his outstanding scores are. I am so proud of the little guy I just can't take it!

Lexie's 18 week improvement

This is Lexie's 18 week report card. I am so happy that she's improved her work habits. Also the people at the YMCA after school program are now getting them to do their homework in the first part of the time right after school. I check everything over with them each night but I don't have to push push push for hours just to get them to do it. It makes a big difference in what they get to do at home, how much time we have as a family, and their bed time.

Young Rembrandts

I am going to do my best to sign Logan up for the Young Rembrandts Winter Drawing classes. I have to have the money by the 25th, so it's going to be a stretch, but I told him we would try as part of his birthday present. He is already showing signs of being very talented with drawing, painting, stuff like that. This actually came home in Lexie's folder, but she didn't want to do it. She was VERY excited for him though! I had been hoping to see some of their mother's child support to help out with stuff like this. It's only $30 per week (I think that's about the minimum) and although I never wanted it and did not count on it, it would be nice to have that small amount to do extra things for the kids. My lawyer Chuck looked into it, and he just found out that although the court ordered her to start paying child support every Friday starting on November 15th of last year, she's never paid any of it. That's ok for me because I don't need it, but I do feel like its her obligation to her children. I know if she had gotten custody, the thought of getting out of child support would have never crossed my mind, once it was set by the court.

My wonderful sister

My sappy sister says I make HER cry. I think she did this web page to get me up to her tear-level ounce for ounce. If you have a minute, check it out. http://www.lucysgirlonline.com/page.aspx She's one of the last few people on earth who have any reason to say something nice about me, and actually took the time to do it. She is such a sweetheart, an amazing and strong woman, and a parent worthy to take advice from and look to for inspiration and as a role model. She will deny the "strong" part most of the time, but I swear to you, I see more of our mother in her every day. That might be why I'm so predisposed to teasing her mercilessly. And yes, it is true...every word. I love you my beautiful, wonderful, sweet hearted sister.

Logan's Work of Art

Logan did some painting on Monday. I don't know what this is supposed to be, but he had fun doing it. Last night we went to C Aunt Patti so she could show Lexie how2 tune her guitar. She showed her a G chord& demonstrated the 1st lesson in her book!

Hooter's Wisdom

This wet-nap at Hooter's had such a cool blurb on it that I had to share it with the world. We went on New Year's Day. Lexie and Logan LOVE Hooter's! Its like the three bears. Logan is mild, Lex is medium and I am hot.

Ginger?

I don't know if Ginger is going to be ginger-colored much longer! She is going thru her molt and turning an ugly dirty color! I hope Lexie is not too disappointed, but I'm pretty sure she will still like her. Guess we named her too soon... :-)
