Last night, Sue who teaches my bible study class and another lady from
my class came by to check on me. They said they knew my final hearing
was yesterday and they wanted to make sure I was ok. I gave them both a
hug and they were happy for me. These people from Fern Creek Baptist
Church are all very kind, and they all seem very genuine. I appreciate
them. I have had like four or five visits now. They always bring me a
container of dried beans as a welcome gift. Its funny...the first time
I fixed the beans the kids absolutely loved them. I mentioned that the
next time they came to visit because they brought another container (I
was saying that they didn't have to because they brought me beans last
time) and they said that's ok. I told them thanks and how much we liked
them last time, so now, every time they visit, I always get beans!!
Well, they talked to the kids and I for just a couple minutes because I
had just got done fixing supper (and it was stir-fry pork with Chinese
vegetables, not beans) and they didn't want to keep us. I invited them
to stay and they said they couldn't. The kids told them next time to
make sure and not eat before they come over because we always have
enough-it's true. I plan my food budget on leftovers for lunches.
Sometimes we even eat them a day later as a side dish or something.
Anyway we had a prayer, and then the left. Sue is very sweet, and I
like her husband Dan too. They are both very kind and friendly.
The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck
