The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck

Grandma's Earrings
I was looking for a clothes brush I had seen in a box the other day when I was working on cleaning and unpacking the remaining boxes from moving. I found the earrings that came from Mom & Jack's estate. They are little more than costume jewelry...14 karat yelow gold, but they were Mom's. I had gotten them for Christmas one year. I think she wore them only once. They came with the receipt, original earring box, and a plastic bag that said Service Merchandise. The receipt was dated 12/22/89. The price was around $20. I would have been 22 years old when I got them. I seem to remember them being on a good sale, but I'm thinking now they are much more suitable for a 10 year old, then my mother who deserved something a lot nicer from me. They are simple gold hoops...
