The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck

Baked Beans
I'm cooking baked beans over night in the crock pot. We have a pot luck tomorrow to celebrate two gals who are leaving Louisville Ladder. They are both glad to get out of there, discontent and b*tching all the time since our boss promoted this older woman who used to be their co-worker (and happens to have very little company seniority)to be their supervisor. I think it was a mistake to make her a supervisor, but I really like my boss and I will support her decisions. Anyway, I put in the baked beans, added onion, black strap molasses, and a little Crown Royal. That ought to be good. I wonder if I should cook them with the lid off because right now they are too soupy.
