School Lunch Fiasco

082806I sent in checks for lunch money of $10 for Lexie and $10 for Logan. I called the school several times, spoke with the teachers, the cafeteria staff, and some office people. The checks should have covered my children’s (reduced) lunches for several weeks. I am hesitant to send in more money that may also get lost, especially cash. I wrote an e-mail to the principal asking if I need to come in during office hours each week to pay for my children’s lunches.

The cafeteria staff were polite to me when I spoke with them on the phone, but I sent in a note last week to explain this situation and Lexie was told “It’s not my problem—I don’t deal with this.” I was told that if I had any problems I could send in a note to the nutrition services manager Ms. Williams (also in the information I have received in a memo from their teachers). Both of the kids are very worried about eating school lunch because of the way they have been treated by the cafeteria staff.

The checks were drawn on Fifth/Third. Their lunch numbers were NOT on the checks because it was the first week, and I did not have lunch numbers for them. I sure as hell don't want to cancel the checks...
