I have decided there is something that I call "fringe-friends" They are
like your "work friends", or "friends of friends" that you don't really
get together with, call, or write to of your own free will. You
associate with them only when they are around. In the old days they
used to call these people acquaintances. I like that term better. It
lends an air of sophistication to the whole mess.
That being said, I hate the fact that I even have any fringe-friends.
If someone is your friend, they should just be your friend.
