Theresia and I

Here's T and I on the same day. Lexie did a great job taking this picture!

Captain's Quarters

This was last Sunday. Theresia, the kids and I went for a drive. We ended up having hot cocoa at The Captain's Quarters. Well, I had hot tea with Splenda. We went down to the water and walked around. It was cold, but a clear and pretty day...

Belt!

I just went to the bathroom. Not something i usually note on this blog, but... I just noticed that the belt i got at Christmas time has crept up on me! I bought the size 50 waist belt and it only went into the first hole. Now its on the 2nd to last!!

More Crazy Roommate Crap

I had to be my kid's prescriptions filled yesterday. They went to the doctor and one has cough, the other has ear infection. I had to drop them off to their mother over in Indiana, so when I was done with that, I went over to visit with Joe and Dana.

Later, Theresia gave me a call, and we met at my apartment and settled in for the evening. She has trouble with insomnia sometimes. We fell asleep watching The Skeleton Key, and then when she woke up about 2:30 this morning, we finished watching it. I thought it was really good. Freaky, but good.

When I went to go to the bathroom this morning, my bathroom door was locked and shut. I don't have a key and I was sitting there with a coat hanger for about 15 minutes. After that, I went to flush, and it wouldn't flush. I looked at it this morning and there was no water in the tank. I half suspect that the crazy room mate did these things.

Also, Theresia was looking in my closet and she says "Oh my God!" She got me this huge bottle of expensive vodka for Christmas. It's almost gone. I've had like two drinks made out of it. The room mate has been getting in my room and drinking it. That's about $50 worth of booze. And not so much as a please or thank you. Never even asked.

I'm starting to get worried about the kids and my personal effects being within her reach while I am not there.

Thou Wowest Me 2...

The card my girlfriend got me for Valentine's Day...

Outside is a picture of a knight on horseback embossed in silver. It says: "She hadn't realized that there were still knights in shining armor running around these days...until she found him."

On the inside, it says "Thou wowest me!"

...and then she wrote: "I am thankful every day to have met someone as kind, loving, affectionate, and playful as you are. I love your creative spirit and your sense of adventure. I love that we have s much fun together and yet we have our serious moments too. I love that you love to cook! I love that one devilish eyebrow. I love your beautiful voice. I love the way your skin smells when you're asleep, warm and spicy...keeps bad dreams away. Your breath is my lullaby--slow, deep, and deliberate."

How sweet is that? I told her in truth, it is the most wonderful card I've ever gotten in my life. Aside from cards from the kids...(well I didn't say that last, but it's pretty-much a given when you have kids.) She is truly an awesome woman.

Thou wowest me

My girlfriend got of the sweetest Valentine's Day card! Here's a picture. I'll send the text in a moment...

Grandpa's Table

When the kids and I got in last night, I found my room looking ransacked, a trash bag full of my laundry from the dryer marked "clean clothes", and my great-grandpa's antique table (not expensive, just sentimental) broken in half. My crazy room mate had been in my room for some reason. She sent me a message just now that she would be off today, but working until midnight tomorrow and I replied and asked her what happened. Lexie said "We never even touch any of her stuff." She was confused and didn't understand why she would come into our room and break things.

I feel like my privacy has been greatly violated. I am so sick of this crap. She just sent me a message back and said "I don't know what you're talking about." I'm guessing she was drunk again, just came in and did stuff and blacked out. That happens to her a lot. Ugh...

Deep Sea Fishing

I co-worker and I were talking about fishing today, and I related the story of my deep-sea fishing experience. While it was fresh in my mind, I thought I'd put it here on my blog...

One summer I went "deep sea" fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. The trip out made a lot of people sick. I though it was great! The ocean/sea is beautiful. It was a day tour, and I caught mainly scrub fish while everybody else was catching grouper. Right before we left to head back, I thought I had gotten hooked on the bottom... Now I've been fishing a lot in lakes, rivers, creeks around here. I assumed it was a log--sometimes that happens and you have to cut your line. I reeled and reeled. It took me a couple minutes to remember where I was. It was the middle of the Gulf of Mexico...no trees or logs for miles around. Could it be coral or something? It was about that time that I did see something in the water. It LOOKED like a big log...

I kept brining in my line, finally the "log" surfaced and rolled over--it was a huge fish! It looked like a cat fish...it had the "whiskers" out the side of it's head. So, rod bending nearly in half, I brought it aboard the boat. I was about ready to bend down and get the hook out when the fellow working on the boat yelled at me "wait for me--don't touch that!" He had on steel mesh gloves. He stepped on its head and removed the hook. In doing this, I could see row upon row of teeth!! It was a nurse-shark! He said likely it would have taken a couple fingers from me. Alas, it was against "regulations" to keep the shark, so he threw it back in. And me, without a camera on this trip... Biggest fish this city-boy will ever catch!

Mr. Apple

An old friend and I were talking about our kids and getting them to eat fruits and veggies. I told her the story of Mr. Apple. I thought I would share it here on the good ol' blog.

Sometimes the kids and I do "The Tragic Life of Mr. Apple". You hollow out the apple, then fill with peanut butter, raisins, dried cereal, nuts, whatever you have basically. I either cut out a face or push in filler to make eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. Then comes the sick twisted part they love. "Oh no! Mr. Apple got sick. He has what the doctors believe to be a brain tumor. They must operate very carefully--very delicately to get out the horrible tumor that threatens his life! " Here's where I take the biggest butcher's knife I can find. "We must be very gentle, and not make any mistakes! If we foul up, it could kill Mr. Apple!" Then I take the knife and chop the apple in half as violently-looking as I can. They scream with delight. "Well, we can't let Mr. Apple go to waste! He donated his body to medical science!" Then I cut a bite, eat it, finish cutting and split the rest of the apple between the kids...

Logan...Mr. Walking Pneumonia!

Update from their mother:  Prescriptions were $120!!!!  And Logan has walking pneumonia!  I am FREAKING OUT!!!

The kids medical checkup

The kids just got back from their checkup with their new Doctor. Their mother gave me the full report. They both have ear infections, and Logan has a cough. They got a total of 5 prescriptions between them. They both have to go in and get general blood work done (for the new doctor). Plus they are going to check both their thyroids, because they are both in the 95th percentile on height, and the 92nd percentile on weight! The doctor said Lexie's expected height will be five foot ten inches, and Logan will be six foot three!!! Lexie is developing some already, so they're also going to check for "early puberty".

Insomnia

I have been diagnosed with bronchitis, and a touch of bronchial pneumonia. My doctor doesn't like to take any chances. She gave me antibiotics, inhaler, and steroids. I don't know what the hell is doing it, but I can't sleep. Seems like being sick, I need my rest....

Guess I'll blog, and write, and fiddle around on the net. Nothing bloody else to do, eh?

Tattoo

I went to Tattoo Charlie's yesterday after work. I had my tattoo artist check me out, and he said likely I'll have to get a touch-up. He said either I put on too much lotion, or I got it too wet. Either way, I don't know how I did it except for showering!!! Ah well, I think it will be at no cost to get it touched up, since it didn't go right to begin with.

The new car is doing fine. I went yesterday at lunch and got my KY driver's license. Ugh. I guess that means I'm a Kentuckian now. Possibly not, since I wasn't born here and don't own any land. That's ok, I wasn't born in Indiana or own land there EITHER!

Theresia got me a Hooter's t-shirt last week. I wore it for casual Friday today. She got a matching one for Logan. I got a start of Swedish Ivy from a girl here at work. It has developed roots in water, now I need to transplant it! Today is Friday the 13th. Another month and Logan will be 5 years old! Theresia and I watched 40 Year Old Virgin. It was very funny, but not as good as Wedding Crashers.

Man, its a nasty rainy day today, and I'm feeling beat...

Fire!

Saturday night, Theresia and I went out to karaoke. When we came back early in the morning, there were odd looking suds out in the parking lot. I thought that some kids had been out playing, but apparently there was a fire in my apartment building!!! The apartment manager was in the hallway and they were putting a door on the apartment below mine. The bottom apartment caught fire some time around midnight. The apartment above it on the 2nd floor had no answer at the door, so they had to bust it down to check for fire (there was none). My apartment on the 3rd floor (above the one that they busted the door in) was fine...EXCEPT...my room mate's mother came out and left the door wide open. Smoke got into our apartment and there is a fine layer of soot on everything that has to be cleaned. My bedroom remained sealed. It smells fine and no soot, but my bathroom door was open, and I had to clean everything thoroughly. All the kitchen had to be cleaned, even inside the cabinets which I guess were opened. My room-mate's mother is crazy and never leaves the apartment, so when she finally left, she just kinda ran out screaming--or the firefighters had to drag her out. It still smells like smoke, but its not really strong. Since I cleaned the bathroom, you can't tell it too much. I need to mop the floor and wash the rugs then it should be completely fine. If I could catch my room mate's mother sleeping, I would unload a whole bottle of Fabreeze on that living room and dining room carpet.

Tattoo

My girlfriend got me an early Valentine's Day present. A tattoo on my left shoulder of the Ouroboris which is the fabled serpent-eating-its-tail. Its in a celtic type knot design. I'm getting another one later on my right arm with the kids names...

New Year's Eve

I had a really nice New Year's Eve. Not an exciting one, but it was good nonetheless. The kids and I went over to Theresia's house about 7pm for supper. She fixed pork tenderloin, and black beans and rice. It was very good, just like almost everything she fixes. We rented a bunch of movies! The kids watched a Scooby Doo movie, and a Wallace and Gromitt movie. Theresia and I watched Brothers Grimm, and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Well, I watched Hitchhikers Guide, Theresia said it was stupid and fell asleep. I woke her up at midnight though...

The next morning, she got a call about her niece and had to rush off to the hospital. I stayed until about eleven. I fixed breakfast for all the kids. I did scrambled eggs with sausage, cheddar cheese, and mushrooms, biscuits, sausage, and hash browns. Everybody seemed to like it. As far as I know, Theresia never got to try the breakfast. She spent the whole day at the hospital.

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time...

So far, so good. The past weeks have been hectic (as evidenced by no blogging!!!) I finally researched and found a car-dealership who would work with my not-so-hot credit. I bought a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero. It is nothing special, but it has heat, a radio, and you can hear yourself bloody think when it's on the highway.

Not to panic...I did not go even temporarily insane and trade or sell Judy. The kids would have hated getting rid of her, and I don't think I could bear it. Besides, I know the dealership would not have given me anything for it...

I'll take a picture of the new (so far unnamed by the kids) car today and blog it with my phone.

Santa was good to the kids. I think they were happy. We had to return some clothes for Logan and boots for Lexie, but I figure that was going to happen no matter what.

Christmas Party

The HR lady here at work said we would have our office Christmas party on Friday night. Now they've changed it to having it at work. It's nice that they are doing something for us, but I rearranged my schedule with the kids to be without them this weekend. I have plans for tomorrow and Sunday. Now this has changed, the original reason I needed to switch. Oh well, I needed to have them next weekend (holiday weekend) on Friday and Saturday. I'm going to see if I might get them on Thursday evening too. I think I'm off Friday. Egads this time of year is crazy...

Harry Potter

Theresia and I went to see the new Harry Potter movie last night. It was pretty good, except for I had run to the restroom in the beginning of the movie and barf. I snuck 1/2 a sandwich from supper into the theater to finish it, and I must have eaten too quickly. Six months and I've only hurled three times...so I guess that's not too bad! I'm glad we didn't take our kids. They would have likely been scared witless!

The kids did Christmas shopping for their mother, a little something for a few other people and I have to wrap it up today after work. Also I have to wrap some of their presents... I want to get something under the tree. Right now there's a couple things they picked out for my room mate--candles from the "Dollar Tree", but that's it. They wanted to get me something this year, but I told them that I would rather keep what money we have to get gifts for the two of them, and the other people on our list. I explained that Christmas is exciting because you get presents, but the real fun comes from picking out things that you think other people will really like, seeing them unwrap the gift you chose just special for them, and looking at their face when they see what it is! They are excited about that part of Christmas now as well, and they understand why they don't really need to get me anything, because my fun comes from them!

In all honesty, I'm going to wait until everybody else on our list is taken care of, and then, if I have anything after Christmas, I'm going to shop bargains for some clothes I need. I've got some stuff that is just too damn big to even wear any more.
