Honda CRV Thermostat replacement

My sister has a 97 Honda CRV. She got the oil changed the other day, plus a flush and (supposedly) fill of the radiator. A few days later her A/C stopped working and the car was oveerheating. She took it back to the oil change place and topped it off, telling her she needed a new thermostat. I volunteered and told her I could replace it for her. Its a simple procedure, but unlike the other cars I have done this on, the thermostat was not behind the top radiator hose, but the bottom one. It was a bit of a bugger to get to, but with much swearing, sweating, and cursing, I got it replaced. Also I cound out she had almost NOTHING in her radiator!!! Either they forgot to fill after the flush, or something. When I took off the lower hose, only about four ounces of coolant came out. I had to add water just to make it safe to drive. I hope they drained some of the H2O out and replaced it with antifreeze so it'll be protected this winter!

What a good brother you are! Where did she get it done - so people know where NOT to go.

This page is first on google when you search "Honda CRV thermostat location", and it just so happens I have a 97 as well.

saved me from having to find out what you did about the top hose!
