I know the background is crap, but doesn't Lex look so cute in her brother's shirt? I am proud of her. She is beautiful AND smart. We'll keep our fingers crossed she stays on honor roll this year. Besides, I need a new bumper sticker!!! |

The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck

Double your pleasure, double your fun!
Two boxes, no waiting! This is the first time I have encountered a dual box kiosk. I think the second one is actually a TARDIS. Seems to work though...

Reconstruction
The rail depot which crosses the road to work is being repaired. It was really getting to be hell on wheels. My scoot felt like it was getting beat up pretty bad, so I would ride about 2 inches from the edge. Not so safe, but the only spot that wasnt beat to death. Today the manager of the industrial park (who was unshaven, jeans & t-shirt, looking more like one of the road crew) was escorted to my office by one of the warehouse guys. He gave me three pieces of rubber about 4" square and 1/2" thick and asked me to use them under my stand so it doesnt mark the pavement. Well...I was using something under my side-stand when it was blown over by the wind a couple weeks ago. The only reason I was using the side-stand at all was because they asked me to put something under it. After the damage, I didnt want to do anything which would cause instability. It is difficult to perfectly line up any kind of plate under your side stand, and even more so two seperate peices. Its almost impossible to do it by yourself. Plus my damn bike doesnt sink in to their precious assfault! I have been parking there for two years and there are no holes. I spoke to HR, and Judi said I should try parking on the concrete area between the office and shipping. That will be birdshit city, but its easier to wipe poop than it is to do bodywork. I still don't have the estimate!

Scuffs
The muffler was also scuffed, as well as the MAJESTY emblem. The worst part, aside from the damage, was the fact that the landlord from Louisville Industrial Park made a fuss about some holes in their parking lot around the side of the building (where nobody has parked for a year) and so told our warehouse guy to tell me I need to park up by the building on the sidewalk instead of the parking lot. I knew it wouldn't look very professional so I used my side stand with a stand plate every day. If it had been on the center stand, this would not have happened from mere wind, unless it was hurricane force wind.
Deep scratch
I think this passenger grab rail got the worst of it. I was worried about damage to the front cowling due to the pegs I installed, but those actually kept some of the lower front from being ripped up.
Underseat Storage
The latch for the underseat storage (commonly referred to as the "pet carrier") failed spilling my helmet & other stuff out onto the parking lot into the rain.
Sad, sad, sad.
This is the first cosmetic damage I've had. None of the "tupperware" was broken, but there were several scratches. I righted the bike as I have been shown (which probably saved my back) by "walking" it up.
Something I never wanted to see
When I left work about 6pm last night I was the last person out the door. I set the alarm only to have an alarm of my own. To my great suprise, my bike was laying on its right side. Since it was the side opposite the stand and we had some brief wind, I assume it was from that.

My postal carrier hates me!
My postal carrier is a total witch! She wads and crams every peice of mail I get into my box, and I have to just about finish destroying it to get it out! I used to get DVD's from Netflix that were broken in half at least once a month! I complained, but they said I have to speak to the local office which is in Fern Creek, and those people clearly dont give a rat's *ss. I think they know they are on the endangered list and are just waiting for it to finish.
Kathy discovers vinegar
Kat recently discovered the cleaning power of vinegar. She has been walking around the apartment scrubbing this smudge or that. I used to get upset with her...after all its not her job to do my housework. But I have come to understand she enjoys it, and also it gives me extra time. We have actually been doing some walking in the evenings! The new geocaching hobby helps with that too...
Pill keeper (aka Bison tube)
This is the little watertight keeper that holds the rolled up cache log. Pretty sneaky, huh? Well, they get smaller!! Pretty scary when you think about it...like looking for a needle in a haystack! Still, this seems common for "urban" areas. This was placed in/around Waterfront Park.
Do you see it?
In this tree like a little Christmas Tree ornament was hidden the geocache. Not all of them are boxes out in the woods and weeds with little trinkets for trading inside.

Geocache placement
I have so far failed miserably on my first two attempts to place a geocache. One was too close to a prohibited structure and on the other I didn't get permission from the landowners who were on either side of the cache which was placed on public land. :( Hopefully this one will succeed and become listed on geocaching.com :)
Fourth of July
The party that the kids were going to got cancelled so I had to run out last minute and get fireworks...

Trading
I took a little pin that said "Soy Amada" and left a nerf slingshot dart which Logan donated to the cause.
Cache #1: ammo can
Apparently an ammo can is a common container for a cache which typically holds a log book and some trade items. The idea is you take something from the cache and leave something of equal or greater value.
New Hobby: Geocaching
I did a little research on the hobby of geocaching. Come to find out its mainly a free hobby for someone who already owns a GPS. My friend Vince is checking it out too. Vince, Kat, the kids and I all went up to the park this past Thursday night to seek out a couple. We found two of them. This was the first.
