The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck

My daughter kicks butt with a bow!
Mace/Pepper Spray
able to take down an assailant at 30 meters or so with her bow... She
said to me "I carry pepper spray." That reminded me of the time that
I was helping my brother Mike deliver newspapers. He also had some
MACE brand spray--like postmen used to carry to repel dogs. I was
playing with it, and got just a little bit on my hand...but I did not
know..until....I rubbed my eye....
I was unable to see for about an hour because I was crying so much. I
can attest that it is actually very painful, and really would be quite
capable of incapacitating someone. Apparently it is also very amusing
to watch this, as he was also incapacitated for about the same amount
of time rolling around on the ground laughing at me.
Primary life lesson: Never fool around with dangerous things if you
have not seen first-hand what they can do.
More subtle lesson: Older brothers love you and may watch out for
you, but--once knowing you will be ok--will not hesitate to laugh
mercilessly at your stupidity and any pain which it brings you.
